Welcome to Tangier—the gateway between Africa and Europe! Your guide meets you at the port or airport to begin your 4-day adventure. Drive through the scenic Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, the “Blue Pearl” of Morocco. Wander its serene, cobalt-washed alleys, admire artisan shops, and soak in the peaceful mountain atmosphere. After lunch, continue south to Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. Check into a traditional riad in the medina. Overnight in Fes.
Journey Duration: 8–9 hours | Distance: 480 km
Depart Fes through the Middle Atlas. Stop in Ifrane (“Little Switzerland”) and Azrou Cedar Forest to observe wild Barbary macaques. Continue through the dramatic Ziz Gorges, where volcanic cliffs frame a lush river valley. Lunch in Errachidia, then cross the arid plains toward Merzouga. In the late afternoon, mount your camel for a 1.5-hour trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset. Arrive at your luxury desert camp for dinner under the stars, accompanied by live Berber music. Overnight in the camp.
Journey Duration: 6–7 hours | Distance: 280 km
Rise early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, visit Rissani’s lively souk—one of southern Morocco’s largest—and sample local specialties. Continue through Erfoud (famous for fossils) to the Todgha Gorges, where 300-meter limestone walls create a natural cathedral perfect for walking and photography. Proceed to the Dades Gorges, known for its “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. Overnight in a guesthouse overlooking the valley.
Journey Duration: 7–8 hours | Distance: 380 km
Depart through the Dades Valley into the fragrant Valley of Roses. Stop in Skoura Oasis to admire ancient kasbahs amid palm groves. Continue to Ouarzazate—the “Hollywood of Africa”—and visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, a 12th-century fortified village featured in *Gladiator* and *Game of Thrones*. Cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), enjoying panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and Berber villages. Optional stop at an argan oil cooperative.
