DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Ouarzazate → Skoura → Valley of Roses → Dades Gorges → Todra Gorges

Journey Duration: 6–7 hours | Distance: 220 km

Depart in the morning in a comfortable 4×4 from Ouarzazate toward the Dades and Todra Gorges. En route, explore the Skoura Oasis—a UNESCO-recognized palm grove dotted with centuries-old kasbahs like Amridil. Continue to Kalaat M’Gouna, capital of the Damask rose, known for its rosewater distilleries and traditional Jewish dagger craftsmanship.

Drive through the stunning Valley of Roses, where ochre and pink mountains frame the life-giving Oued Dades, nurturing lush vegetation and traditional Berber villages. Pass through Bou Tharar and Ait Youl at the entrance to the Dades Gorges. Enjoy lunch with panoramic views of the dramatic rock formations.

In the afternoon, continue along the mountain road to the Todra Gorges. Take a short walk through the narrow canyon, where 300-meter limestone walls tower overhead. Evening and overnight in a guesthouse near the Todra Gorges.

Day 2: Todra Gorges → Tinghir → Erfoud → Merzouga → Erg Chebbi Luxury Bivouac

After breakfast, enjoy a morning walk in the Todra Gorges and visit Tinghir’s expansive 30-km palmeraie, where irrigation canals channel water from the gorge’s spring through date palm groves.

Head east toward the Tafilalet region, passing the Ziz Valley’s vast palm oasis. Stop for lunch in Erfoud—famous for its black fossilized marble (Goniatite) quarries. Then, drive south on desert tracks to Merzouga, gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes—some rising up to 250 meters.

Day 3: Merzouga – Full Day in Erg Chebbi Dunes

Return to the bivouac for a leisurely lunch. The afternoon is yours to choose your own adventure: try sandboarding down the dunes, relax at a nearby desert lodge with a swimming pool (seasonal), or enjoy a peaceful second camel ride at sunset. Dinner and overnight in the same luxury bivouac.

Day 4: Merzouga → Rissani → Tazzarine → N’Kob → Draa Valley → Agdz → Ouarzazate

After breakfast, depart Merzouga and head west through the historic town of Rissani—birthplace of Morocco’s Alaouite royal dynasty—and pass the rugged Bougafer massif. Continue through Tazzarine and stop for lunch in the traditional village of N’Kob.

Descend into the majestic Draa Valley—Morocco’s longest river valley—lined with ancient kasbahs and endless palm groves. Pass through Agdz as the landscape gradually shifts from green oasis to the arid foothills of the Anti-Atlas.
