We continue to Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron capital. Here, you’ll learn about the local saffron trade and its importance to the region. The journey then takes us to Taznakht, a village famous for its handmade Berber carpets.
Next, we cross the High Atlas Mountains and arrive at the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This clay-built marvel has been used as a filming location for movies like Gladiator, The Mummy, and the series Game of Thrones.
After lunch, we drive to Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa. You’ll visit one of the city’s famous film studios, where you can see original sets still standing from blockbuster productions.
Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Ouarzazate.
After leaving the highlands of Ouarzazate, we arrive at our first oasis: Skoura. This palm-filled area is home to several hidden kasbahs tucked among the trees.
As we continue, the landscape changes once again. We enter the Valley of the Roses, a region known for its rose-colored kasbahs and fields full of blooming Damascus roses.
Next, we reach the Dades Valley, a fertile riverbed that nourishes small fields of fruits, vegetables, and other local crops.
We then follow the road to Tinghir, where we ascend into the dramatic Todra Gorge. Here, we pause for lunch beneath the towering canyon walls. (Sunday afternoon.)
Later in the day, we head south toward the vast Sahara Desert and the village of Merzouga. Along the way, we pass more oases filled with date palms, adobe houses, and traditional towns like Erfoud and Rissani.
Upon arrival, camels will be waiting to take us into the golden Dolden Dunes. They will guide us through the sand as we enjoy the sunset and make our way to our desert camp.
At night, you’ll experience life like a nomad in Erg Chebbi. Expect a magical evening with traditional meals, music by the campfire, a starry sky overhead, and a deep sense of peace.
We’ll wake you up early to witness one of the most unforgettable sunrises in the world. As the golden light gradually spreads across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the desert comes alive in magical hues.
Afterwards, you’ll return to Merzouga for breakfast and a short rest at the riad.
Then, we begin our journey toward Fes, passing through the spectacular Ziz Valley, a region once known for its rich fossil deposits. Along the way, we follow the winding path of the Oued Ziz River through the impressive Ziz Gorges, eventually arriving at the Tafilalt Oasis—one of Morocco’s largest palm groves.
Continuing north, we travel through Errachidia, where you’ll enjoy lunch and experience warm Berber hospitality.
From there, the road leads us along the edge of the Cedar Forest. We soon arrive in Azrou, a scenic Berber town whose name means “rock.” Located high in the Middle Atlas Mountains, Azrou is known for its fresh mountain air and natural beauty. Here, you may spot the native Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
Next, we continue on to Ifrane, often called “the Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean, peaceful streets.
Finally, we reach Fes in the late afternoon. You’ll be dropped off at your riad or hotel for a relaxing overnight stay.
Spend a full day exploring the historic Fes Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world.
Your tour begins with a visit to the stunning Bou Inania Madrasa, an architectural masterpiece from the 14th century. Known for its intricate zellige tilework and carved wood detailing, it’s a beautiful introduction to Fes’s rich heritage.
Next, wander through the colorful alleys of Fes’s famous tanneries, where centuries-old techniques are still used to dye leather in vibrant hues. Located near the Oued Fes, this is an unforgettable experience—both visually and aromatically!
Afterwards, continue exploring the medina’s winding streets and impressive historical landmarks, including:
Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University – One of the oldest operating universities in the world
Madrasa Al-Attarine – A jewel of Marinid architecture
Nejjarine Fountain and Carpenter’s Museum – A beautiful example of craftsmanship and design
Bab Bou Jeloud (Blue Gate) – The iconic gateway into the old city
Fortified ramparts and ancient gates – Surrounding the medina, preserving its original structure
Throughout the day, your guided tour will offer deep insight into the spiritual, educational, and artisanal traditions of Fes. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to shop, take photos, and meet local artisans along the way.
After breakfast at your hotel in Fes, we begin our journey to the north with a stop in Meknes, Morocco’s 17th-century imperial capital. Known for its grandeur and historical significance, you’ll visit the impressive Bab Mansour El-Alaaj, one of the most remarkable gates in North Africa, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, founder of the city’s glory. You’ll also explore El Hedim Square, often compared to Marrakech’s Jamaa El-Fna, but with a more relaxed local atmosphere.
Next, we head to the remarkable Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll tour the ancient forum, marvel at the well-preserved mosaic floors, and learn about the history of Roman settlement in Morocco.
After a relaxing lunch at a nearby restaurant, we continue our scenic drive through the Rif Mountains, enjoying panoramic views along the way.
By late afternoon, we arrive in the enchanting blue-washed town of Chefchaouen, nestled in the hills of northern Morocco. Take time to wander through the Spanish-style medina, filled with local art, handicrafts, and welcoming rooftop cafés offering sweeping views over the mountains.
Overnight stay in a riad or hotel in Chefchaouen.

Wander the blue-washed streets of the medina, known for its calming atmosphere and vibrant charm. Admire the mix of white and indigo houses, browse local artisan shops, or relax at a rooftop café with sweeping views of the surrounding hills.

following breakfast at your Chefchaouen lodging. We’ll begin our day in Rabat, the imperial city that serves as both the capital and the palace of the reigning monarch, Mohamed VI. When you arrive, you may visit the spectacular Hassan II tower, which was only partially completed when building on the world’s biggest mosque started at the end of the 12th century during the rule of Yacoub El Mansour, the Almohad Sultan. The Mohamed V Mausoleum is close by and is located on Yacoub El Mansour Esplanade. It houses the bones of Hassan II and Mohamed V, the last two monarchs of the Alaouite dynasty.
then to the Oudayas Kasbah, also known as the Kasbah of the Udayas. Originally constructed in the 12th century, this location has seen several renovations over the ages. A lot of immigrants from Andalusia have called it home. We will travel for about an hour to the industrial and financial center of Morocco after eating lunch in Rabat. Casablanca is a beautiful city. The hotel at night.
After breakfast, we depart for a short drive to Casablanca, Morocco’s bustling economic capital and the center of much of the country’s international trade. Located on the Atlantic coast, the city carries a distinct southern European flair, blending modern infrastructure with colonial-era charm.
Historically, Casablanca began as a Berber village in the 7th century, but it was destroyed by an earthquake in the late 18th century and later rebuilt by the French in 1906. The result is a city of striking contrasts, where the old medina meets the Nouvelle Ville (New Town)—a French-designed district featuring wide boulevards, shopping malls, hotels, banks, and business centers.
The highlight of your visit is the awe-inspiring Hassan II Mosque, the third-largest mosque in the world, after those in Mecca and Medina. Perched on the edge of the ocean, it is a marvel of Moroccan craftsmanship and one of the few mosques in the country open to non-Muslim visitors.
In the afternoon, we continue our journey to Marrakech, arriving by evening. Dinner is on your own, allowing you free time to explore the local dining scene or relax at your riad.
